30% of the male populus closet Bisexuals? « Thread Started on Jan 4, 2007, 1:52am »
Male Bisexuals - How many closets are there left?
I think that there must be much more bi-sexual males than openly admitted. Currently, one of the 10 people is Gay or Lesbian, and another 1 per 10 males is bisexual, but another 2,8 (statistically) males is bisexual.
Now this can't be right. You'd think that women go bisexual a lot easier, but this isn't the case at all. The social problem with gay men keeps males to not open out, while the society is not nearly as strict with lesbians.
Let's just look at this: There are 329 derogatory terms for a male homosexual, while there aren't even 100 for a lesbian. It's quite plausible that males simply stay in the closet because they would be alienated - and who could blame them?
While gay men generally *have* to come out (If they want to have a sex life without hiding it from all their relatives, which can be pretty hard), a bisexual (male or female) can just as well date only the opposite sex, while suppressing (Or hiding) their feelings for the other sex.
I'm sure there's as much male bi's as females, but none of them want to come out because of the social pressure that goes along with "Gay".

you make a very good point, a point which i believe to be true. i myself am a bisexual, and i did have a pretty hard time to come out to my friends and family. i first discovered it about two years ago or something, but just recently told them. i was scared shitless for two years that the ones close to me would alienate me due to my nature. luckily, i discovered that they were not so narrowminded, and nothing much has changed since i came out. i get the occasional joke on the expense of my sexuality, but it´s all in good fun. if any closet-bisexuals are reading this, don´t be afraid to come out. if your friends truly like you and enjoy your company, they will not care.

another problem is that all homosexuals are excluded from most societal programs, such as the military, which I don't understand. however, this rule makes no sense as the "dont ask, don't tell" rule is punishable under the uniform code of military justice states. also under this code, you can get five years in prison for sodomy, and sodomy is defined as everything other than teh missionary. it's pretty dumb. yeah.

Hmm. I'm not bisexual, but I'm not discriminatory in any way. Unfortunately, my parents are the kind who would shout out "2 ROMANS 23:11" at any guy who acts feminine. It's a possibility. A lot of my close pals have turned out to be bisexual and/or gay.
